Notes
| Judy sang a medley of Cole
Porter songs for this event. John Fricke writes in "World's Greatest
Entertainer" that: "the medley she sang that night was hardly the vehicle
with which to impress her largest television audience in three years.
For the first time, Roger Edens let her down; his vocal arrangement of
a dozen Cole Porter songs was plodding, unimaginative, and unwieldy --
and Johnny Green's orchestration was it's match." He later says of
the appearance, "Garland was well rehearsed, in reasonably good voice,
and, despite the expected nerves, worked hard at presenting a happy controlled
image." |
