This piece is still one of my own favorites even though I did it nearly 15 years ago. I was a newly-minted fashion illustrator who had no interest in modern clothes, I prefered vintage fashions and movie costumes. Of course the ruby slippers are the ultimate shoes. I have since become a professional paper doll artist and can indulge my passion for fashions of the past to my heart's content. Interested parties can see more of my artwork on my website at: Collectible Paper Dolls

This is a plaster statue of Dorothy I painted over 20 years ago. Her feet came out dark in the pic, but she is wearing red-sequined slippers.

I drew this picture of Dorothy in the fifth grade (1970).

This is the artwork that appeared on the cover of the original sound- track album that came out around 1970. I seem to recall that it had an ad tie-in with Singer at the time, you could buy it at those stores.

Anyway, I always found it curious that all mention of the ruby slippers was deleted from the dialogue on the album. Dorothy is obviously wearing the shoes on the cover but they have been colored black. The artist also did her dress in pink for some reason.

I thought this might make an interesting curiosity to put on the website.
