Sunday:  Today is the day Bill and I had planned on going to the city to see the shoes at Christie's.  Bill, armed with his camera, and myself with my still and my video camera arrived early so we walked around nervously passing the time.

Christie's finally opened!  We walked around the floor briefly (surprisingly, it's not a big room!) and we couldn't find the shoes!  Bill spotted the case where they were supposed to be, and we asked.  The person looked at us as if to say "Oh, my!", muttered something and walked off, whispered something to someone else...  We decided to go look at the Cowardly Lion costume for a minute and by the time we turned back around, a sparkle caught our eye about the same time.

They were there!

I must admit, Bill and I did everything but press our noses to the glass to get a good look at those shoes! I think Bill did have his nose on the glass once, but I promised him I wouldn't say anything....  It's like we'd look a while, walk away, be drawn back, over and over again.  As much Oz 'stuff' as they had there that normally would have fascinated me - the shoes are what I went for.

We were quite amused by the 'Dorothy double' that Christie's had hired to walk the floor, who claimed to had been in her ruby slippers (retch!) for 60 years...  That her stuffed Toto was acting funny because he 'fell off the roof when her house landed on Christie's that morning....'  Yes, she 'came by twister...' This Dorothy acted as if she was going to tell us about the ruby slippers, but Bill and I certainly set her straight on what was what with those shoes!

Much video was taken of the shoes that day - a lot of it was with the camera right up against the glass, getting minute details, tracing the shoes from toe to heel on both the exposed sides, the  toes, etc..  For every yard of video I took, I think Bill took a picture!

After our stint at Christie's, we headed out for lunch at Planet Hollywood.  We couldn't find any Judy there, except for her face (via A Star is Born) in a large b/w mural type thing  She was noticeably crooked - to which Bill went over and straightened her up!

Then it was time for the Warner Brothers Store!  It was jam packed with Oz material, they could have almost called it the Oz Wing! I bought a ruby slipper pen.  And I also took Bills picture - next to his namesake.

That night, our nightcap consisted of watching the tape of the day all over again to see what our spoils were - the tape turned out pretty good!
