They call this spot "the Squeeze" where the James River, with a normal width (where we fish) of 150 to 200 yards, is compressed into a width of about 20 feet. You can't tell from this picture but the current sweeps you into the rocks on river left and through some fairly high standing waves. It looks like you can sneak it from river right but with my fly gear aboard I pulled my canoe around. Guerry floated right through it on his pontoon boat. I would like to see this spot when the river was smoking along at 2000cfs. |
